Paterno had complete control and therefore responsibility for what happened in the Penn State athletic department. That makes him responsible for what happens, especially if he had some knowledge of it. Whatever he did, it wasn’t nearly enough. Sandusky is innocent until proven guilty, but it’s clear Paterno agreed with the choice not to even investigate.

Legendary football coach, yes. Had a positive impact on players and coaches, yes. A great person, no.
