Football: Six Bears invited to NFL Combine

Six former Cal players have been invited to the NFL Combine, Feb. 22 through 28 in Indianpolis, where executives, coaches, player personnel and medical staff members of all 32 teams will be on hand to make evaluations.

The Cal players invited: punter Bryan Anger, safety Sean Cattouse, defensive end Trevor Guyton, wide receiver Marvin Jones, linebacker Mychal Kendricks and offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz.

Here’s the full list of invited players along with the schedule the players will face at Indy.

I’m convinced Marvin Jones will be a great pro. I’m a Raiders fan, and he reminds me of a young Tim Brown.

  • ConcordBear

Marvin has good ability and potential for a good pro career but Tim Brown?
If he can do that it would be sweet and I’m rooting for him. Really like Kendricks, Guyton and Jones to be solid nfl players.

    Six more draftees!

Too bad DJ Campbell didn’t get an invite. I think he has NFL potential especially since Chris Conte has done relatively well so far in his short career.

Good call Concord. I think all those guys will be solid.

Jones just reminds me of Tim Brown. I think that’s a best case scenario for him.

But he has great hands. Great route runner. But doesn’t have that breakaway speed. But neither did Brown. In the right scheme he could be a 10 year WR veteran. If he stays healthy and all that.

I think Jones has a good shot of sneaking into the 1st round with a good combine.

5 star WR Stefon Diggs who was reported to be leaning towards Cal about a month ago has now removed us from consideration. His final 4 are Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Maryland.

He announces this Friday. This cements that we now did not hold onto a single elite recruit who was “considering” us (but had not committed) up until Tosh-Kiesau Gate 2012.

With this, the dark chapter in Cal getting TypicalCal’d in 2012 has come to an end.

In case anyone is curious how much Tedford wanted Diggs. Wes Chandler’s first visit was flying out for an in home with Diggs. Before visiting Treggs, Walker, Payton, Dozier, etc.

This would have been one tasty tortilla chip for the guacamole that is Cal football.

Can someone put the twitter and the facebook on a 3.5″ floppy drive for Tedford and his staff ?

  • daredevilfan

Juancho, any word on the ASU running back looking to back out of LOI?

  • Juancho

Dare, the news is the lack of news out of tucson. Including the lack of positive pub for foster. I think if we could get foster hed be a game changer. Lets hope. As soon as i find something out ill post.

What’s a 3.5″ floppy? Coach Teddy is old school and keeps his files on punchcards. Ironically, 160 characters was the most you could get on those, just like the Twitter.

When is the lawsuit going to be filed by Cal over Tosh being improperly recruited by UW or the Pac – 12 starting its investigation into that activity?

  • covinared

We are Cal: you beat us on the field, but we’ll beat you in court? I don’t think so. Man up and move on.

  • Juancho

CalBearister your punchard comment made me laugh out loud. Well played sir.

  • covinared

news out of tucson for an asu back?
