Women’s basketball: Bears out to settle score

TIPOFF: Cal (18-6, 9-3) vs. USC (12-10, 6-6 Pac-12) at Haas Pavilion, Saturday, 8 p.m.  TV: CSNBA.

GAME THEME: Having built a two-game cushion in second place, the Bears will try to avenge their worst defeat of the season, a 74-54 loss at USC on New Year’s Eve. Cal shot 21 percent in the second half and was outscored 42-25 over the final 20 minutes. The combined margin of the Bears’ other five defeats is just 14 points.

NOTES: Cal is 11-1 at home  . . . The Bears have regained their spot as the NCAA leader in rebounding margin at plus-15.1 per game . . . Freshman Reshanda Gray is averaging 17.3 points and 11.3 rebounds since joining the starting lineup three games ago . . . USC senior guard Ashley Corral leads the conference in 3-point baskets (60) and 3-point accuracy (39.0 percent).
