Former Cal star Ryan Anderson had quite a Wednesday.
He scored 14 first-quarter points and finished with 27 – including 7 of 10 shots from 3-point range – leading the Orlando Magic to a 103-87 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
“People don’t understand that this guy is averaging 16 or 17 points without having a play called for him all season,” point guard Jameer Nelson said. “(Anderson is) just growing. He’s developed a lot of confidence. We’ve always had confidence in him as a group. We always knew he was a great player and probably one of the greatest shooters in the league.”
The NBA agrees. Anderson, shooting 42.1 percent from the 3-point arc, has been invited to participate in the 3-point contest Feb. 25 during NBA All-Star weekend in Orlando.
