As much as I like Calvin and wish him well at the next level, he was injured for much of his Cal career. Those injuries made it hard for Calvin to beat out our third receiver, Jeremy Ross, in 2010, or our numbers one and two receivers for the last two years Keenan Allen and Marvin Jones, respectively.

As for Tedford’s ability to find and develop talent, here are some TWO star players that Tedford turned into great players at Cal: Alex Mack, Justin Forsett, Mike Tepper, Mike Mohamed, Robert Jordan, Thomas DeCoud, Matt Giordano. Give the man the credit he deserves.

But for injuries to Nate Longshore, Kevin Riley, and Jahvid Best, our team would have achieved greater results on the field.

If our offensive line does its job this year, we will be fine.

Dan, i am totally with you on that one. Calvin did manage to stay healthy his last couple of years at Cal yet we got little out of such elite talent. this has become an annual ritual, where guys who had pedestrian careers while at cal end up showing amazing abilities at these events leading everyone to wonder where that talent was all this time.

What we all know… Cal has talent upon talent… and Tedford does nothing close to optimizing that talent.

Kudos to Calvin, who had a bit of a hard luck career at Cal, and also to Kendricks and Owusu. More guys who will be standouts in the NFL that always makes up come back with the questions… “what the heck is Tedford doing… or not doing?

Injuries aside, Calvin was just a total non entity during his career at Cal. I would never have never dreamed he had that kind of speed and vertical leaping ability. All I seem to remember was him dropping a lot of passes. Chase Lyman was another oft injured WR who left a deep impression on me. When he was healthy, none better at Cal.

Unfortunately we never really got to see how much talent Calvin had because he was injured so often.
