Football: No seats in place at Memorial Stadium, but seat selection process for 2012 begins

Staff photographer Dan Honda and I got a thorough tour this morning of Memorial Stadium and the new Simpson Student-Athlete High Performance Center. Impressive stuff.

I will have a story on the progress of the stadium project in the paper and online within a day or two and Dan will be assembling a multi-media digital presentation for our websites.

There is much work still to be done at the stadium, but a lot has been accomplished. The place should look terrific on Sept. 1 when Nevada visits for the debut game. Project director Bob Milano Jr. assured us the place will be up and running for the opener.

In the meantime, although seats aren’t yet in place — except in the student section, where the gold aluminum bleachers have been moved from the west side to the east —  Cal has begun to allow season-ticketholders to select their seats.

Here’s a link to Cal’s website with all the details.

I want season tickets, but I cannot afford them.

Alas – I can’t wait for the season.

    Hey Juancho-

You might try posting on this blog or on craigslist for someone to share a season ticket package with. You just have to be able to agree on how to divide them up, LOL. But last time I checked, the season ticket package did not offer much of a price break over the face value of each individual ticket. If that is still the case, maybe just try for single game tickets for the games you want to see.

    Thanks blue n gold.

Im on the single game ticket boat. Im going to try to make it to the home opener and stanford and maybe another.

The season prices are just too much for me to justify. Especially when hd broadcasts are so good.

Hopefully there will be a lot of hd broadcasts to watch. If the season starts to disappoint, I would not be surprised if a good portion of the TV coverage does as well.
