Jeff, I heard that originally Freddie Tagaloa was going to be that hybrid for Mike Montgomery.

But Tedford dropped the hammer and won't let him play basketball in addition to football. Any truth to this?

7 ft 275lb Center Robert Upshaw from Frenso has Fresno State at the top of his list but the interest according to Rivals is "medium" He is ranked #43 overall

Anthony Bennett from Henderson NV lists UNLV but also only medium interest. He is ranked #7 - a 6'7 power forward.

There are few more but probably not likely to go to Cal.. Jeff is correct some top teams will have openings when and if their players leave early.

Cal has some holes to fill right now and either of these two players would keep us in contention.

Cal's biggest spring recruiting need is a 4 man with some girth -- a hybrid of Harper Kamp and Markhuri Sanders-Frison would be ideal. I don't believe they will take just anyone to fill a spot, but they do need more size and muscle.
Regarding SteveNTEXAS suggesting Kentucky has a scholarship available . . . they will have more than one real soon. Maybe three or four.

"He would go in the first 2 rounds of the draft."

Just so we're all aware, there are only 2 rounds of the draft, and most 2nd rounders don't end up making it in the NBA, nor do 2nd rounders get guaranteed money. You really have to count on being a 1st round pick for there to be much appeal in leaving early.

I believe there are two out of the top 10 recruits still uncommitted. Many major schools have over-subscribed so they can't sign them but Kentucky does have an open scholy.

As of now, they're looking at Robert Upshaw, 7' Center out of Fresno who recently decommitted from K-State, and another Center out of Poland, Przemek Karnowski. There are a couple of others, but I can't remember off the top of my head who they are.

So, Ross goes 2 years at UW (he was originally going to Oregon, until Ernie Kent was fired) and Wroten goes 1 year. Ross didn't play much/well last year with Thomas on the team, so his breakout was really this year. Essentially, two one-and-dones...and what did it do for UW? Not much. They barely won the conference (thanks to Cal's loss at Furd) and they didn't get invited to the NCAAs. I guess that one-and-done thing really does work.

Cunningham would be crazy to come back, what's OSU's upside, 6th place? He would go in the first 2 rounds of the draft.
