Basketball: All five Kentucky starters turn pro

This is why Kentucky won the NCAA tournament — all five of the Wildcats’ starters announced today they will turn pro.

Three freshmen and two sophomores — and they’re apparently all going to get drafted.

The website DraftExpress.com projects four of them being selected among the first 18 picks — Anthony Davis at No. 1, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist at No. 3, Terrence Jones at No. 11 and Marquis Teague at No. 18. Doron Lamb is tabbed go to No. 33, with senior reserve Darius Miller pegged for No. 35.

Marquis Grissom might be the funniest typo i’ve ever seen…you should def keep it up

Kentucky continues to be a top minor league program, Indiana whose stars stayed in college this year should beat them fairly easily.

Thanks, Todd, for catching my brief lapse into baseball mode.

That’s awesome. It’s not like one-and-done players are hurting college basketball or anything. I’m sure the Kentucky fans feel a deep connection to the players they rented for a year (or two). I’ll bet some of those players even visited the campus a couple of times.

The more the NCAA encourages the top tier programs to abandon all pretense of being affiliated with academic institutions and essentially become professional teams, the more comfortable I am with the Bears maintaining their integrity and refusing to play that game. A conference title every once in a while and a couple of tourney wins here and there are the best a school with academic standards and a diverse community can expect. I’ll gladly trade away national recognition for the ability to root for good people as well we good basketball.

Thank goodness for the Shaka Smarts and Brad Stevenses of the world who occasionally put together a run and embarrass the big programs. Unfortunately, they just amount to a brief respite from the continual downward spiral of college athletics.

    But I’m not bitter…

Mildly disappointed you changed it..it was great

Dissapointed I missed the Marquiss Grissom text. He’s right up there as far as favorite childhood center fielders.

No Kenny Lofton or anything, but not a bad player. Certainly a step or two above Otis Nixon.
