Football: D.J. Holt signs with Redskins

Another day, another former Cal player has signed a free-agent contract.

Linebacker D.J. Holt signed Thursday with the Washington Redskins, bumping the total number of Bears to 12 who either were drafted last weekend or have since signed.

Holt was a two-time honorable mention all-Pac-12 selection, who played in 50 of 51 career games and started 33 times. He had 218 career tackles, including 20.5 for losses.

Is there a list of total draft picks PLUS free-agent signings, by college, by year. If so, Cal might lead the nation. Don’t recall so many Cal guys signing as free agents in prior years, and they had six guys picked in the draft this year, a high number. Shows we have had good talent to work with.
