Any chance you can do a story about the Cal baseball season? Wonder how a team with some good talent returning from a #5 finish last year missed NCAA’s.
Maybe an interview with the coach about this year and what to look forward to next spring.
He was the National coach of the year last year and knows his stuff.

A losing record in conference is too much to overcome. Even had we made it to a regional we wouldn’t have been able to win it.

They pitched Flemer twice in three days to close out the season. Had the staff had an inkling we’d be in the regionals they never would have done that. They knew the season was over, and rightfully so. The team has a lot of heart. But this team isn’t as talented as last year’s squad.

Cal should have made it. A lot of things did not come together for this team. 1B Rodriguez got hurt and no one ever established themselves at SS. Defense was bad all season. Pitching was hurt by Jones poor year, Scott’s up and down campaign and Porter’s mia season. Win 2 more Pac games somewhere and we would have been in. Overall a very disappointing season. Never thought Tony Renda would go out missing NCAA’s…

I think baseball is the one of the major sports wherel coaching really has little to do with results. We just didnt have the horses this year at the plate or on the bump. Hopefully we get a great class which already includes goff and i pray will include eddie vanderdoes on the hill.
