I 100% support your efforts. But I think it is asking too much of this blog to request that it block or ban the troll.

Currently, anyone can post under any name they choose to use. The blog would have to institute a whole new commenting system with unique user IDs, or they would have to capture IP addresses (or some similar unique identifier) in order to block or ban.

Point being, any effort to block the troll would cost the owners of the blog (MediaNews Group) some cash. Given the hard economic times and the fact that the prior blogger to this blog was let go for financial reasons, that simply isn’t going to happen anytime soon, if ever.

Laslty, let’s not antagonize the writer, Jeff. I believe Jeff is on our side – I’m sure he doesn’t like how the troll can hijack this blog. But he is a journalist – not an owner or an editor. Other than content, he doesn’t control this blog.

So let’s focus on what we can change, which you have done a great job of bringing to the attention of everyone here, even going so far as to author the script which we all benefit from.

Use Grease Monkey.
Ignore the Troll.
Enjoy the blog.

I don’t know if we are allowed to cite a competitor’s web site, but today’s SFChronicle/ SFGate has an iteresting article about JT visiting New England and Coach Belichick over the summer. One of the revelations that came to him was the need to get greater offensive production from the tight ends. Any comments?
P.S.- Out of deference to MikeD I won’t respond to moron, but if anyone seriously believes the self righteous crap it posted above, I have a bridge out in the bay for sale…

#2 – This is all I will comment on the matter. When I come to post on this blog I do so with football on my mind. That is directly opposed to some of the notorious non football but name calling posters around here. GOGOBears, Will, BluenGold, Sherm Boyson, etc al have not contributed one single football related post in years. Draw your own conclusions about that. My commitment to this blog remains the same. Let’s talk football. However, if the posters on this board continue to talk trash and post things which are blatantly false (including personal matters about me) then all I can do is defend myself.

By the way, may I suggest you create a couple of more Block scripts for the real perpetrators on this board. Taking to stalking me around the internet has become an addiction for these posters. Attempt to offer these scripts to scout, SFGate, YouTube, Contra Costa Times, rivals readers, etc at $5 a piece and you will make a lot of money.

Your pleas are well-received, MikeD. I’ve been pretty guilty of what you speak of (despite using Greasemonkey.

Hopefully JF just permanently blocks the troll, but his actions up till now speak louder than any words you’ll get in response to your post. But from now on, I promise to stick to sports.

After seeing some of the recent tragedies in our country, I realize that it’s a bad idea to antagonize someone who is that mentally unstable (while in the process, making the user experience for fine Bears like you less than optimal).
