Someone needs to make a determination of which college’s current and former athletes have contributed the most to the U.S. Olympic team’s medal record, preferably on a mathematical basis. I think it could be Cal, with Adrian, Volmer, Coughlin, and Morgan, and maybe others. I know that Stanford had four players on the men’s water polo team, but they may not medal (Cal had one player on that team). The sport of rowing also probably has some Cal grads on that team.

Don’t know how, or even whether, some sort of downward adjustment needs to be made for contributions to teams sports.

I’m with Juancho (Scottish, not Mexican, though): Alex Morgan rocks. I was watching the match live on television, and it was about the most exciting half+ of soccer or sport that one could imagine. And the goal, with about 30 seconds left in injury time after the second overtime, was stunning — just ask the Canadians. My hat is off to our northern neighbor for not earlier trying to press an advantage with a US player injured on the pitch. Good sports all. And Alex was supreme. Go Bears!
