Football: Ex-Cal star Brian Treggs on son Bryce’s reaction so far to Berkeley — `He loves it’

I visited at length over the weekend with former Cal star Brian Treggs, whose freshman son Bryce is competing for a starting wideout position with the Bears.

We talked about many things regarding his son. My profile on father and son will run sometime later this week.

But Brian said his son has embraced everything about Berkeley so far.

“He loves it — he loved it from Day 1,” Brian said. “He called me after the first day of summer bridge. He said, `Dad, I made the right decision.’

“If you can find a match of a school that loves you and you love, that’s perfect. A lot of kids don’t get that.”

This is a kid with talent, personality and a great relationship with Cal on arrival.
He could be a tremendous leader for program going forward!

  • milo

    Go Bears!

  • Will

He’s going to be the next big thing. Having 4 or 5 star talent is great, but when you match that with an attitude like the one he has, he’s destined to succeed.

Bryce Treggs gets “hella” press coverage. What about Tedford’s Zach Kline rule that freshman who haven’t played a snap can’t talk to the press.

Oh that’s right. It’s all BS. Release the Kline.

If Bryce is as good as his father was at Cal, I am okay with that. The consensus is that Bryce is even more talented that his dad at this early stage of development. If that proves to be true, it’s a huge bonus. My single favorite play at Cal involved Brian Treggs burning the SC secondary for a 70 yard touchdown bomb from Troy Taylor in the 89 game. That was against a very dominant SC defense that didn!t yield long touchdown bombs to anyone. It was a very special moment against the team I despise the most.

It’s time to bring some of that magic back against SC, and maybe young Mr. Treggs is the one to lead the way.

#5 – If you despise USC that much you must have had some nightmares over the past 10 years. 9 losses to be exact.

Maybe you should make WSU your team to be despised. However with Leach now firmly in the driver seat get ready for some more nightmares. You know, the 2004 Holiday Bowl kind. HAHAHAHAHA

  • Steve W

I despise SC in part because the success of the program lures in losers and wannabes like More NC’s. Pathetic.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

Steve – This is the last time I will reply to you. I have been doing my best not to engage people who ruin the threads on this board but your post is unbelievably untrue.

Your man did not even play in the 1989 game. (A game which USC won 31-15). In fact, he didn’t play in 1989 season.

Please be more careful with what you post.

Steve W, get with the program with Greasemonkey. No need to bait the unstable.

  • MoreSanctionsComing

And the much larger question remains:

Why, Moren, do you continue to make yourself a constant presence in a place where everybody hates you and wishes you would leave?

The unfortunate part of this story that should get the most attention is what a sad, empty life it must be that motivates you to spend all of your time in the various online forums of a football team you hate.

Help is out there. You don’t have to always be so alone.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

Why is it that the only reason you exist is to post material against me. Just for once can’t you talk football. You have been hanging around now for 8 years just to harass me. No one wants you around.

So GOGOBears and seek some advice for your stalking obsession and leave us alone to talk about the upcoming season.

PS What I find pathetic is how none of you on the board will confront this poster. Duplicity don’t you think?

  • MoreNCsarecoming

I guess none of you homers want to post this link?

Comes from our good old friend TheAdvisingBear on BI. I guess he doesn’t lurk here anymore.

  • MikeD

hey all! A new version of the greasemonkey script is out, I’ve updated the block list to include troll poster MoreSanctionsComing, no need to keep reading that drivel any more either, good times! Go Bears!

  • Steve W

Hey loser….I know others call you troll and Moron. They all fit. Brian Treggs DID burn the SC secondary for a long TD bomb in the 89 game at Berkeley. Except I was wrong about the 70-yard part. It was actually 75 yards. Now go back to your hole.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

    Steve W

Before MikeD puts you on greasemonkey blocking you for good here is a link for you.

Check out his 1989 stats and then report back to me. Let me guess. You are one of those Social Welfare majors.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

Dude you just got played by your own board! Blocked and called a troll who posts drivel. In your case I guess one would call it “double drivel”.

I will tell you what. Give me your prediction for this year’s UCB football team. Just do the regular season since the bowl games you guys play are worthless.

What is your call? 5-7, 6-6, 7-5, 8-4, 9-3? Whatever you call will be your first and only football related post.

If you do this MikeD may just take you off the script.

  • Steve W

I didn’t even go to Cal, so don’t impugn my major. But I know I am smarter than you. And I know my Cal football. You are just a lousy researcher, which may explain why you could’t cut it in Cal law school. Brian Treggs played the whole 1989 season, and his most glorius moment was singing the SC defense for a 75-yard touchdown bomb in the 89 game. I was witness to it on the 30-yard line, and I screamed myself hoarse. My hatred for all things SC football is only personified when encountering revisionist clowns like you.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

    #17 – Steve W

“I know I am smarter than you.”

Really? And how do you know that and what is your criteria?

“You are just a lousy researcher, which may explain why you could’t cut it in Cal law school”.

Really? If you did your research you would know I never went to Cal law school.

  • Steve W

My criteria is that I know how to google the 1989 game stats and confirm my statements. You apparently don’t. It makes it all the more pathetic if you continue to lurk over this site and have no association with Cal. I should have known you couldn’t get accepted into the law school at Cal.
