Football: Freshman WR Bryce Treggs earning starting job as Bears release first fall depth chart

By Jeff Faraudo

Coach Jeff Tedford met with reporters this afternoon and released the team’s first fall depth chart, showing freshman wideout Bryce Treggs has won a starting job opposite Keenan Allen.

Tedford said Chris Harper is on the second team, adding that Darius Powe is the third freshman who will see significant playing time. Kenny Lawler will redshirt and Cedric Dozier has asked to move to defense and will begin working out at corner.

Here’s my story with other lineup updates. Here is the Bears’ two-deep.

I am uncomfortable about Mullins at mlb. He started both of the recent games against pistols, and we got run over. Let’s hope he has improved. wilkerson is showing himself to be quite brittle for being such a big stud.

  2. Rollonubears Says:

Whiteside not even on the 2 deep.

    Congratulations BT.

No M Harris on wr depth chart.

Gotta good feeling Whiteside will get serious playing time.

    Go Bears!

  4. ConcordBear Says:

Treggs is a stud and Powe has tremendous potential.
Harper stepping up and being a player as a true frosh is a pleasant surprise!
Dozier at DB brings great hands and tremendous athleticism, great move for his future.
Worried Wilkerson, Whiteside and Gabe King never produce from the raw ability they all posses. Hope these work out warriors learn to bring it on game day too.
Excited to see what kind of team we have this year!
    Fired up
    Go Bears

    where was Jalil?

  6. Jeff Faraudo Says:

Mustafa Jalil is recovering from a knee injury he incurred in camp — Tedford said he will absolutely be in the rotation as soon as he is up to speed. Sounds like another couple weeks.

  7. Jeff Faraudo Says:

Maurice Harris is listed as a No. 2 at wideout, but it’s clear the three freshmen — Treggs, Harper and Powe — are making serious inroads and will be in the rotation.

  8. milo Says:

Three frosh at WR, starting or in the rotation? Sorta reminds me ’07 with DJax, RJordan and LHawkins.

    Go Bears!

  9. covinared Says:

jordon was a frosh in 04.

  10. covinared Says:

hawkins was a sr and jackson a jr in 07.

  11. Matt Says:

Whiteside is not likely to get any significant playing time, unless every starter gets injured. Wilkerson wasnt listed because he has an ankle injury that could keep him out of the first game.
