Basketball: Lindy’s magazine projects Cal 4th in Pac-12 and into the NCAA tournament

Lindy’s, the first of the preseason college basketball magazines I’ve seen, picks Cal to finish fourth in the Pac-12 Conference and gives the Bears one of five NCAA tournament berths going to conference schools.

The magazine projects UCLA as the Pac-12 champion, although the eligibility issues of the Bruins’ newcomers could impact that pick.  Lindy’s has UCLA, Arizona, Stanford, Cal and Washington in the NCAA field.

Here are their conference picks:

1. UCLA; 2. Arizona; 3. Stanford; 4. California; 5. Washington; 6. USC; 7. Colorado; 8. Oregon; 9. Arizona State; 10. Washington State; 11. Oregon State; 12. Utah.

Lindy’s has Allen Crabbe on its five-man preseason all-conference team, along with UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad, Arizona’s Solomon Hill, WSU’s Brock Motum and Colorado’s Andre Roberson.

Cal point guard Justin Cobbs is a third-team all-Pac-12 pick.

    UCLA #1…hahahaha. Not a chance.

I guess it all comes down to how much crabbe progresses for me. He could be a savage and carry us. Or he could stay where hes at and be a good but not great player.

Hope he lights it on fire.

No way Stanfurd places third. Johnny Dawkins team will fall.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Richard Solomon plays this year. Cobb can help out with with the perimeter scoring, but we really need quality big man minutes out of Solo if we’re going to be successful.

Tyrone Wallace will be better than expected, on both sides of the ball – way athletic, him and Cobbs. And I am excited to see Kreklow play, if he can get it going he may be a major surprise this year – energy guy a la a certain departed senior. Also, expect Kravish to be much more offensive. Kreklow and Kravish, the Bears’ Missouri connection?

This would be great news – Just for the Pac 12 to go to 5 tourney teams is nice.
