Basketball: Ricky Krekow has foot surgery

Ricky Kreklow, projected as the Bears’ starter at shooting guard, underwent surgery on his right foot and will be sidelined 6 to 8 weeks.

A sophomore transfer from Missouri, Kreklow had surgery to repair a stress reaction in his foot, coach Mike Montgomery said.

Kreklow joined the program a year ago and sat out last season, as per NCAA transfer rules. He was expected to fill the backcourt spot vacated by Jorge Gutierrez, the Pac-12 Player of the Year who has graduated.

Now expect senior Brandon Smith to move into the starting five, alongside Allen Crabbe and Justin Cobbs. Freshman guard Tyrone Wallace will get the chance to show early what he can do.

    Have keenan allen play.

  • Kevin

Get well soon, Ricky. Looking forward to seeing you play and we’ll need you this year.

  • Dan

    So Kreklow is out. Bummer.

Brandon Smith takes his place in the starting line up- also a bummer…

If it was last season … C’mon B Smitty, you had a down season last year, time to change all that.

I know he’s a GREAT kid, hard worker, guy you’d want for your son or to date your daughter. Great opportunity to get some time early, don’t try to do too much, just relax and play your game.

Wishing him the best. Hoping for a full and quick recovery from Kreklow.

Dan speak for your own daughter. Mine just turned 12 -she can have a pet rabbit or possum and maybe a bicycle but no dating. WHen she was 10 she told me boys are jerks and showoffs, she needs to stick to it.

Smith may take a leadership role as a senior which I think he is. LEts’ see how he does.

    Thats a hillarious comment steve.

    C’mon B Smith!

  • Dan

It was a conceptual statement Steve. My daughter is in college pursuing a nursing degree and a lacrosse player. I think B Smitty might be too short for her.

  • Uh Huh!

Looking forward to a profile of walk on Frid. Normally wouldn’t care, but 7’1″ can’t hide.
    Be the first, Mr. Faraudo.
