Football: Pac-10 honor to CB Steve Williams

By Jeff Faraudo
Monday, October 15th, 2012 at 2:28 pm in Football, Honors.

For the second week in a row, a Cal cornerback has been honored as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week.

Senior Steve Williams, who had an interception, six tackles and four pass breakups in Cal’s 31-17 win over Washington State, earned the award this week. Kameron Jackson was honored a week ago after picking off three passes in Cal’s 43-17 win over UCLA.

Also honored by the Pac-12 this week were Oregon State quarterback Cody Vaz, who passed for 332 yards and three touchdowns in a win at BYU, and Arizona State’s Rashad Ross, of Vallejo, who returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown against Colorado.

I think Steve Williams is the most underrated player on the Bears. He is really outstanding. Fast, can tackle, could be a good NFL player, certainly better than the frauds coming from the SEC.

Well deserved. He shut down one of the top WRs in the nation- until Sebastian knocked him out of the game. Williams broke up several passes and was rock solid all game. Great game.

SW is balling$ If he keeps playing at the same level I can see him going in Second Rd. Maybe higher?

Grizzly i accept your apology for cyber bullying me the other day.

I critcized steve williams first few weeks. I thought he regressed. But now hes balling outta control to quote bay area philosopher and spiritual leader of mine e 40.

Maybe it was game planning. Maybe theyre playing more bump n run. Seemed like first few weeks his guy was open for 5 yards underneath each time bc of zone.

Please continue to celebrate juanukkah by pursuing carnal pleasures.

WSU threw the ball 63x, completing 34. That’s a lot of work out there. Shutting them down to that extent is a defensive feat. Williams made some authoritative plays. Right on. Go Bears!
