Cal might need to go small ball, 4 guards, run and toss it up a lot. Not 100% but as a rotation line-up to give depth, stretch the bench.

Oh, and Sweet 16 was the response to your question, BSB. Right now, I’d be happy if they went 12-6 in conference. Anything beyond that is speculative.

But BSB, this isn’t a 9-man rotation. Ok, it is if you are counting actual names, but it is currently a huge dropoff in talent from the 6-man rotation. Nothing any of the bench has shown yet gives me confidence it’s a 9-man rotation. But, they may get better, let’s hope so. Crabbe and Cobbs were outstanding, but they need help and time off the court.

15-3 seems like a pipe dream to me with this team. We have no depth, and have two decent wins against horrible teams, at home. To speak of Pac12 championships and sweet 16s, let alone an ncaa bid seem way premature. I suppose there’s no harm in early optimism, but I’ve been let down too many times to have much of it anymore.

@BSB- I’d rather have a P12 outright championship and 2nd round loss. At least we’d have a conference championship. S16 would be nice but not at the expense of the conference.

I agree that Cobbs and Crabbe will put up their points but they will need some help. Hopefully the young guys develop and will be ready to contribute down the stretch unlike last season. I think we’ll get a better idea of how good they can be after some road games. Wisconsin will be a good test.

Kreklow looks legit – hopefully he starts soon? I think we are confirmed nine deep now. Starters: Crabbe, Cobbs, Kreklow, Kravish, Solomon.

Bench: Wallace, Smith, Thurman, Johnson.

Bak Bak is better than Behrens but they both aren’t ready, imho. Behrens should have had like 3 layups on great passes but he fumbled them away. Powers is like a walk-on, and no idea about Rodriguez.

Kravish was 0-7!? Is the new muscle a detriment to his once silky touch?

Cobbs and Crabbe are gonna be really hard to stop. And there is enough surrounding them to overcome the rebounding and relative lack of experience. This team will improve under Monty’s leadership, hopefully not peaking until late winter.

With uw just losing at home to albany and ucla being dysfunctional, I think the biggest obstacles to hanging another banner in Haas will be arizona and of possibly the furd, although they were tied with fullerton at home at halftime last night. Or maybe oregon and colorado surprise?

Here is my optimistic self:
would you rather Cal win an outright pac12 regular season championship, at say 15-3 with furd at 14-4, paired with a 2nd round loss in the ncaas?

Or a 14-4 second place finish to furd and a run to the sweet sixteen with a loss to ucla?
(in both cases the pac12 tourney is irrelevant, because it is)
