Allen Crabbe recovered from a quiet first half with a strong finish for the second straight game and Cal stayed unbeaten with a 71-62 win over Denver on Friday night.

Crabbe finished with 20 points after scoring just three on 1-for-4 shooting in the first half.

On Tuesday, Crabbe scored 24 of his career-high 33 points in the second half against Pepperdine.

Against the Pioneers, he also became the 42nd player in Cal history to reach 1,000 for his career. The junior guard now has 1,010 points, and is averaging 26.7 points for the season.

Cal (3-0) also got 17 points from point guard Justin Cobbs. Crabbe and Cobbs combined for 105 points in the Bears’ first two games while no other player had even 10 in either game.

On Friday, three other players scored in double digits, led by forward David Kravish with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Off the bench, Ricky Kreklow and Robert Thurman scored 10 points apiece.

I’m looking forward to watching lame kitten’s powder puff team get clown stomped by the baby sister school we trounced this year. I just hope they hold on to him for many years to come.

I too hope Lame Kippin will be around to kick the stupid FUSCK lamposts for years to come. His coaching ability matches his human qualities and is a perfect fit for that junior college.

Kreklow looks like a Jorge type but with more offensive upside. He kept getting key rebounds at the end of the game just like Jorge would have. He is a difference maker and just the type of guy that championship teams rely on. Very excited to get to watch him get better and better.

I liked the lineup that played the majority of the minutes last night: Cobbs, Crabbe, Kreklow, Thurman and Kravish. All are really very smart basketball players with good size for their positions. They seemed to play well together and kept good spacing and got good shots – Denver didn’t have a chance once this group was able cohese.

Don’t underestimate Thurman’s ability, he has lit it up wherever he has played. Also, he moves very well WITHOUT the ball to get open AND he can finish around the rim – somethings that Solomon has a hard time doing.

Kravish played well and seems to play better without Solomon clogging up the lane. Him and Thurman kept good spacing and rebounded well.

Crabbe and Cobbs, these guys are both NBA material and will continue to light it up. They are very, very fun to watch!

    Go Bears!
