From what I have seen, I hope Cal puts Mike MacIntyre high up on the A list. Great turn around at San Jose State & experience recruiting in California.
As far as Hue Jackson, I would be concerned about his recruiting against jokes about his getting manicures & pedicures the day before games (ESPN The Mag “Hue Jackson’s commitment to excellent nails” 12/16/11). That could be more of a problem in college than in the NFL because of recruiting.

Some interesting speculation but expect to be disappointed. W/out the last in the Pac-12 graduation rate we’d get a strong football coach. Now, staring @ the worst academic record in the Conference, Sandy’s in a box she can’t explain her way out of. She’ll be looking for someone she can sell to academia. I’d guarantee one name you can remove from the list: Sonny Dykes. Why? That name only works south of the Mason-Dixon Line. Just like the name Brock Mansion didn’t work. That name belongs on a daytime soap opera actor, not a Cal QB.

No way on Hue Jackson – way too much of a reach, no proof he’ll be successful as a college head coach. Too scary, too risky.

McIntyre is a better option, but only reached this excellence for 1 year. Still not a large enough body of proof to convince me he WILL take Cal to where it can go.

Broken record for me, but Chris Petersen trumps all choices, Bobby Petrino is the only other sure path to on field excellence, but he ain’t coming to Berkeley.

So Sandy Barbour would consider a triple option coach at Air Force because he is strong on academics? Give me a break! You don’t need to know squat about the circulum at Cal if you are disciplinarian in all phases. The kids are going to graduate if you make sure they are going to classes and get them the proper tutoring. Hell, Russell White was a Prop 48 recruit with dyslexia who graduated from Cal because he decided that was what he was going to do.

Let’s get a football guy first, please.

let’s hope that the reason they haven’t been contacted is because they’re talking to their A-list. Not that those coaches are anything to sneeze at but perhaps they have some other coaches that are rated higher. Although I have read that Jackson is interviewing with Cal later this week.

Macintyre might be a candidate for Tennessee. He went to high school in Nashville. Having attended both Cal and Vandy, I am not surprised Franklin would prefer Nashville.

Thanks Jeff. So, maybe Chris Petersen and Sandy are working out a deal?? Gary Andersen must have been contacted, along with Sonny Dykes? Either Sandy is siting on her hands or already has an offer to her/our alums’ first choice? Either good news soon or we’re competing with Auburn, Tennessee and BC.
