Football: Greg Roman dances nicely

For the second straight week, 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman did his best to dodge questions from BANG’s Cam Inman on whether he has interest or is involved in the Cal coaching situation.

A week ago, Roman said it would be inappropriate to distract himself from his job by discussing other situations.

On Thursday,  Inman tried again:

CI: Greg, is the Cal job attractive to you?

GR: I don’t know anything about it.

CI: Nothing, huh?

GR: Cal’s a great school and it’s got great potential.

That’s all for now.

Don’t even call him. No real reason to think he does much other than ride Harbaugh’s work. He may be the best, but he needs to prove it on his own before I’d give him the reigns.

hahahahahaaha.I can see the smirk on Cam’s face. Just wanted to see Roman dance. LOL

  • Dan

    Meh.

He’ll be a hot prospect for an NFL head job, that will happen soon, as soon as this season. Even he he were to get the Cal job, if he as successful as we want him to be, he’d once again be a hot candidate for an NFL job.

Also, I’m not blown away by the Niners offense. It’s certainly solid, but if you’re going to get an guy with an offensive background, don’t we want one of the very best and innovative out there. Harbaugh and Roman have cetainly brought back and re-invented power offense, with multiple skilled tight ends and athletic linemen in the backfield and tight end.

Just not sure he’s the best or wisest fit. I could be wrong.

    1. I’d rather not have a guy with Stanford connections. Roman, Mason, Hamilton, Taggart, etc. Just my preference.

    2. He doesn’t have that sizzle for me I’d want from a guy with no HC experience. Plus he’s kind of a cold fish with the media.

    3. I was voted third best dancer in 8th grade.

    Juancho – I agree with #1 and #2. Congrats on #3.

I won a baseball autographed by the entire Oakland’s A’s team at my little league end of the year banquet in 1971. Still the best thing I ever won.

  • Juancho

    Man thats awesome.

  • Will

Not as cool as if it was an SF Giants signed baseball. Sorry Juancho, I must maintain my status as your arch nemesis.

  • Juancho

    Haha welll played

  • Calfan1

    Juancho -
regarding roman not having the sizzle – who cares if can win.

  • Juancho

Calfan – you are absolutely right.

I’m not saying he wouldn’t be a good hire. At this point with no real frontrunners for the job though, I just have my own personal preferences on who would get me most jazzed.

I’m sure we all have our own little lists of who we secretly want.

But yeah, I think Roman would do well. I think he and Hue Jackson would be able to get more sizzle b/c of the NFL connection. And they’d be able to energy the Cal alumni who are in the NFL too. Especially Jackson, b/c of his personality, and b/c he coached Tony Gonzalez at Cal in 96.

Steve W, maybe Hue Jackson is step 1 to Cal bringing in Tony Gonzalez to coach.
