Football: Cal interviewed MacIntyre on Friday

A source told Jon Wilner of the Bay Area News Group that San Jose State’s Mike MacIntyre interviewed with Cal last Friday.

Here’s our updated story.

Jeff Faraudo

  • Juancho

    In klines name, amen.

  • 1brsfan

Based on his comments he doesn’t seem too interested in leaving SJSU. Then again he can’t just come out and say he wants the job.

  • George Watson

Oh, I think McIntyre would take the CAL job if offered. Definitely a move up from SJS. However, CAL would probably also be a way-stop on his journey back to the SEC. One thing Tedford did was bring stability. That’s as important as winning. I think “the guy” might be Dykes, though. Won’t be Petersen.

  • Ray Finkle

Why not Peterson? Do you know him personally? The longer this goes, the better chance we land CP IMO.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

    Another no name being interviewed…

And the list goes on and on and on.

  • Steve W

Any coach who can turn an apathetic commuter school into a winner like MacIntyre did with SJS is number one in my book. Does anyone doubt that San Jose State would have cleaned Cal’s clock if they had played this season?

But then again maybe Sandy is waiting for Ron Rivera to get canned.

  • ScottyBear

    Moron:

As do you go on and on, another no name comment after promising to go away, just like USC’s national championship. Oh yeah, just like Barkley’s Heisman trophy. Oh yeah, just like USC’s top 25 ranking. The largest free fall to the abyss for a projected BCS championship winner. But why are we telling you this. You didn’t go to USC, you didn’t play there, you’ve never played football anywhere and never had pads on. USC is ripe for you to troll them. You are the loneliest jock sniffer in history.Oh yeah, you have never worn a jock strap before either. Beat it.

  • Will

    Great news!

  • Easy Ed

Hey Cheeto Kid, speaking of interviews have you gotten a job yet? “Daddy” will not stop his binge drinking until you make something out of your life. To quote Dean Vernon Wormer from Animal House, “Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life”.

Dreaming is a good thing, but reality is better. Petersen would be great, but has already turned down better gigs in the country. I don’t really get this idolatry anyway. Petersen is just one of many good coaches in NCAA football. He’s got many victories, but as someone pointed out yesterday, he may not fit well into the PAC 12. MacIntyre is realistic and probably gettable. Petersen has already shown many programs that he is not. Conceivably, he might take the Oregon spot if Kelly leaves. CAL ain’t Oregon. That’s reality.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

Here is another name to add to your list of no names.

Mario Cristobal just got canned at FIU.

And stop with the thinking that Pete Carroll could be interested. My source in Seattle said “No way” and it is “laughable” even to give it legs.

The truth is no self respecting big name coach is interested in your program. Can you imagine trying to sell it.

SC thoroughly s ucked this year and Trojan fans had better hope that Kiffin gets the door soon. Program looks like it’s only headed down with him. (Remember all that nonsense before the season began? He was already counting his chickens. Idiot.)

Pete Carroll was broke down when he left SC with problems he created. Sterling character and a bad coach. If anything is “laughable” it’s the CAL would want the scumbag.

  • Will

    Whoa…Wilner is right about something?

“Loser: USC. As I noted in a Pac-12-specific post: For the Trojans, with all their expectations, the Sun Bowl vs. Georgia Tech (6-7) is worse than being ineligible.”

Hey, man, reading your stuff, I see how you, Kiffin and Carroll all fit together. What a crew. Good luck with being an SC fan.

  • George Watson

“Loser: USC. As I noted in a Pac-12-specific post: For the Trojans, with all their expectations, the Sun Bowl vs. Georgia Tech (6-7) is worse than being ineligible.”

    This.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

    Hey Losers

I will make you a bet.

I bet that neither Peterson, Diako, Strong or Carroll will come to UC East Bay to coach your pathetic football team.

When 5 of you on this board bet against my bet, I will leave this board for good if I am wrong just as long as the 5 of you who take me up on this bet will leave if your bet is wrong.

    Do we have a deal?

All I need to see is 5 of you agree by replying +1 in a post.

Any of you willing to put it up or am I right in saying you all are a bunch of blowhards.

  • George Watson

“Blowhard.” That’s pretty ironic. First of all, I guess you don’t read. Strong is No. 1 targeted candidate for TN and will likely go there. Carroll is unwanted by anybody with half a brain: he drags scandal with him and, unlike USC, Cal doesn’t want that. Nor would it want Kiffin, were Kiffin available. Kind of dreggy. That leaves Petersen (unrealistic) and Diaco has been strongly linked to BC. So there’s really no bet here. But hey, why don’t you just leave the board anyway? Or do you want to bet you can’t do that? Of course, I bet you can’t.

  • ScottyBear

You already promised to leave. Several times. We don’t care if you leave or not. Just shut up. Actually, learn to spell first. Then shove off.

  • rotfogel

    MoreNCsarecoming

Dude…your coach is Lane Kiffen…and you’re TRYING to make fun of our situation? You’re stuck with a coach who had all the talent in the world and your team wasn’t very good. Good luck with all that!

  • Easy Ed

Hey Cheeto Kid you still haven’t answered my question, have you found a job yet? Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life!

  • Ray Finkle

George, if Kelly leaves Oregon, they would promote the OC. Why would they hire Peterson and totally change the system that they run there. I just don’t see that happening. CP is a NOCAL guy, and now is a perfect time to leave Boise with the whole Big East fiasco. CAL is one of the TOP jobs in America, and that is the reality. Great place to live, great school, great facilities and stadium, and they play in a top conference. Don’t sell CAL short.

  • gobears49

    MoreNCsarecoming,

Who mentioned that Cal is interested in Carroll? They wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot poll, given the indiscretions he was a part of at USC. Anyway, he probably couldn’t win anywhere other than USC since other schools don’t throw around money to get their athletes in violation of the rules like USC does. USC is just about dollar signs. Period.

  • The Wisdom Cow

    Sandy be sneaky!

  • wehofx

#23 GoBears, if anyone mentioned petey here, you can be sure it was moron using one it’s innumerable sn aliases.

  • wehofx

It’s all bad for you and going to get much worse for a while.

Who really is a “no-name coach?” Need I remind you that PC was U$C’s 4th or 5th choice at the time of his hiring? He was a broken-down failed ex-NFL coach at the time who was only hired after Mike Riley, et al turned the school down. A ton of uproar in South Central at the time of the hiring. All great coaches start as “no-namers” at some lower division school and nobody is born into being the head coach or a top flight coordinator in the SEC.

That being said, I second the view of those on here who do not want Sonny Dykes. I do not want Cal playing what is essentially a 60 pass per game, minimal running, no defense style of ball. I doubt his preferred style will change coming here, although Brian Kelly did change his mode of play going to ND from Cincy. Big decision from SB…if she aims low and doesn’t have winning as her top priority, her ass needs to go. It probably should anyway at this point.

  • Juancho

Anyone have a rivals account ? Theyre claiming sandys madr a choice and they know who.

    Abd

    Anybody but dykes

  • Will

You forgot to sign off properly, Juancho.

    In klines name, amen.

  • 1brsfan

    @BFeldmanCBS
Just spoke to Cal AD Sandy Barbour. Said she expects to name new football coach by next week.

  • Easy Ed

Juancho sounds like a ripoff to me, you can find out for $99.00 a year.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

    Just as I figured.

There isn’t a single poster with any guts to take me up on my bet.

    This board is a waste.

  • Will

The one thing I don’t want Sandy to do is to hire Lane Kiffin 2.0. Though I’m not sure anyone else is capable of wasting that much talent LOL

  • George Watson

    Just as I figured.

There isn’t a single poster with any guts to take me up on my bet.

    This board is a waste.

Dude, there is no bet possible. I’d take it up if it was possible, but it isn’t. If you think your bet was, you ARE a moron.

  • Will

I bet that the mother of an $C fan on this board wishes that she got an abortion. George Watson, want to take me up on this bet?

  • BlueNGold

If this board is a waste, if the posters here are pathetic, if Cal’s football program is doomed to being a perennial cellar dweller, then there really is no reason for you to be here, is there? But, as we all know, you have been trolling here for 10 years and running, and despite numerous ‘threats’ to leave, you are still here, still posting the same, snarky, repetitive and completely unimaginative trashy comments. So, what does that say about you, moron? It says you are a total LOSER!!!!!
