Fred Besana and Mark Cahill were the other QB’s. Roth came from Grossmont JC in the fall of ’75 and beat out Besana early in the season. Bart was bigger than life and was the perfect personality to lead the Bears. Roth was just a nice normal guy next door and everyone loved him. Almost a reluctant BMOC. Still a shock to this day that he died of cancer so quickly so young.
