Thanks for the info on the recruits. Don’t know where you guys get your info about this subject. Probably subscribe to a recruiting service. I’m a Cal fan, but not THAT much of a Cal fan.

Good to read that the new assistants are great recruiters, but I’m going to wait and see if they are in the class with Tosh.

As for a recommendation for a nice place to stay in the Bay Area, I like to go wine tasting, but Napa is too snooty for me. Best place in Sonoma area to do that is not too big and nice local wineries surrounding the town (and in the town as well) is Healdsburg, about 10 miles above Santa Rosa (though it is much nicer up there in the summer). For a nice, clean hotel that isn’t very pricey, I suggest you stay at the Best Western Plus. Just checked and room rates for, say, Dec. 28 are $128 for a king size bed and $116 if you belong to Triple A.

Sounds like Newby had dropped CAL out of the mix after Gould was gone, but Ingram has revived his interest. At least I get the sense that the new staff is energized and really working hard at recruiting. Things might not work out as well this first year due to coach turnover, but in the long run this energy will pay off. and maybe they can still continue to make a splash this year, who knows.
