Edward Tandy, a three-star rated outside linebacker from Tustin, gave Cal an oral commitment Friday, according to the recruiting website scout.com.
Washington, Colorado and Nevada also offered scholarships to the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Tandy, who is scheduled to make his Cal campus visit next weekend.
New Cal coach Sonny Dykes now has 24 committed recruits. Signing day is Feb. 6.

daredevil, hopefully more good than bad. It’s just that some guys switch things up for just about every school, every year. Last year was bad because of Tosh. This year, the coaching change at least brings the potential for moves both ways.
I’m a little bothered (not much) that Sonny et al seem to be targeting the guys left available without trying to poach anyone they did not already have contact with. It’s the safe play, but I sure hope they are gambling a little of their time on a high(er) tier recruit or two that have the credentials of both student and athlete. We don’t know that they have not, but the only rumors we get revolve around the guys our coaches already have ties to.
I’m anxious about Hunt.

Now is a PERFECT time for Sonny to be out poaching top OL recruits. The biggest drawback (possibly the ONLY drawback) a top OL prospect could have about Sonny’s offense is that the blocking schemes do not match the pro-sets the NFL usually employs. Well, right now the NFL is giddy about running QBs and the use of “alternative” formations and attacks. If it keeps up, it bodes well for Sonny’s future recruiting. If it flares out, now (and probably the next year or two) would be the window of opportunity to take advantage of it in sales pitches to the guys that believe they will be going pro.

Agree all, what we thru last year means everyone is fair game. Hope we can use some of our new coach/strategy excitement to steal some guys late. CH is a big key though, we’ve gotta keep him.

I read Hunt’s Tweets from his official visit to Oregon this weekend. Seems he was very impressed with their facilities and his host provided a night of nights (surely within recruiting guidelines, of course). Hope Sonny is a closer.
