Rotfogel – Cochran was projected to be a 4-5 star recruit during his junior year. But he never got in shape and plateued as a three. I see this guy getting into the shape of his life at Cal, and being a future NFL first round pick. That type of potential on this kid.

Man oh man. Boy was I wrong on Cochran. I didn’t think he’d end up at Cal. I just thought there was too much foot dragging and that he would end up in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Steve: not sure you’re right. Air Dykes doesn’t have much use for a tight end. Big strong sure handed guys capable of separation in short and mid range are a necessary to open things up for the fast guys on deep routes. Read Austin’s scouting report. He was recruited as a wide out.

I just checked out Aaron Cochran, that guy is huge and has a bad body. You remember what other Cal lineman had a bad body: Tarik Glenn. He wasn’t so bad.

A 4.7 40 time means they plan on putting 40 pounds on this young man and making him a tight end. There is no other explanation for that in an era where D-ends run 4.7 in the 40. I think even Dwight Clark ran a faster 40 time than that.

I have to admit I was disappointed when Dykes was first hired, but I am now starting to think I had been ignorant. I’m really impressed with his recruiting skills and I see what he’s trying to accomplish. This year could be very interesting, hopefully the pleasant kind of interesting.
