Brining up Kreklow reminds me of something. I recently replied to someone about what the rules were to qualify for a medical redshirt, after looking up the rules.

I think if you played less than 30% of the games during the year and stopped playing because of an injury you could qualify, BUT only if you did not play a game after midseason. I think Kreklow did, which is probably why Monty recently stated Kreklow could not get a medical redshirt year. If so, playing him after midseason may not have been a smart move, given his continual injury status. But I could be missing something in the rules, which could be more technical than described (I think if you type in the words "medical redshirt" in Google you will see a link to a Wikipedia article on this subject), so I could be wrong about this and maybe playing Kreklow after midseason did not affect whether he could qualify for a medical redshirt year.

With Kreklow or (insert one more healthy active body here) we win this game. This is not the year of the Bear, Monty's recruiting failures have caught up with the team again, just like last year. Hoping for 10-8 in the p12 and NIT home game(s).

P's and C's report on Tuesday...another title run for the Giants!? And go A's too...

NIT may be aiming high, sadly.

I do have to wonder what a game would be like where the good play begins in the first 10 minutes of a game rather than the last. Oh, wait, that was the last game vs. Oregon (which I didn't get to see = FSN). I'd theorize they can only do this on games televised by FSN, but they stank up several of those, too.

We desperately need to win against Arizona to finish in fourth or better, to get a first round bye in the Pac 12 tournament.

Cal needs to work out some new wrinkles in its offense. They can't seem to get Crabbe open (and when he's open he sometimes decides not to shoot). I think Cobbs is an excellent shooter WHEN HE ISN'T BEING GUARDED CLOSELY (and thus doesn't force his shot). He really is more of a shooting guard than a point guard anyway. I think they need to try to find some shots for him in their offense, which would take some pressure off of Crabbe and perhaps make him more effective. Wallace has been shooting better recently, but I don't think he's quite ready to be a go to guy.

I don't know what to say about our post game, which ranges from decent to poor. It's nice to know we're getting a 7 footer next year who can help us. Other teams seem to have them. We still need to try it to make the defense think about not putting so much pressure on the guards. Seems like once the ball goes into the post it stays there without much passing. The best inside game is when you can make good passes to end up with a layup or dunk.

All in all, a pretty discouraging loss. But, as mentioned above, the team definitely did not quit, which gave them a chance to win at the end and win a game they didn't deserve to win. Hopefully, that reflects lessons that have been learned from the recent games as home.

A split in Arizona would be sweet. Go Bears!

The negative TO to assist ratio killed us again. Stat sheet isn't out yet but it felt like were terrible at the FT line 55% to 60%.

But they did show heart and kept fighting on D. If we stole the game, it would have been because of the D.
