@Wisdom – check out Wilner’s article today (3/4) and you will see that Dykes’ contract puts him 9th in the Pac-12. In other words, Cal either got a tremendous bargain or paid correctly for an up and comer.

Bigdruid: I agree he should be paid more than 60k for a Rose Bowl appearance. Maybe not a mil, but considerably more than the present contract states. No Rose Bowl in 53 years (and counting. That’s an embarrassment in itself.

You have much to learn, grasshopper (Rob Bear). It is a game of misses, which translates toward all endeavors.

Kotempman, I’m afraid it would more accurately translate to winning some big games during the year, having short stretches of brilliance. To compare to a National Championship, a player would have to have the equivalent of an undefeated or 1 loss season before that big game.

Wisdom…using the golf analogy…Even John Daly won two majors ( PGA and British Open) so that would be equivalent to two National Championships in 15 or so years,,,,hmmmmm…I’ll take it!!!!!!!!! Go Bears!!!!!!

Safe to say Sandy pushed all-in on Dykes being the right hire.

That’s a lot of cash for a HC that has not shown a penchant for defense.

I’ll go back to trying not to harp on it after this post, but for you golfers, a flashy offense is like a long ball hitter, where solid defense is like chipping and putting. You most likely know the saying, “You drive for show; you putt for dough.”

Let’s hope Dykes isn’t John Daly.
