Football: Cal signee Khalfani Muhammad blazes to four CIF Southern Section sprint titles

Khalfani Muhammad, who will be a freshman running back for the Bears next fall, showed off the speed he will bring to Berkeley by winning four events Saturday at the CIF Southern Section championships.

Muhammad, who competes for Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks in Division 3, won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and anchored winning teams in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.

Muhammad logged a wind-aided 100-meter time of 10.33 seconds. Although not eligible for record purposes, because of the 3.1-meters-per-second wind reading, the time was the fastest Muhammad has run under any circumstances.

It’s also faster than any California sprinter has clocked this season, according to the website www.dyestat.com.

Later, Muhammad won the 200 meters with a wind-legal time of 20.84, crossing six-tenths of a second ahead of the runnerup. That time is the third-fastest in the country this year.

Muhammad also anchored his team to victory in the 400 relay with a time of 41.27, and 1,600 relay to first place in 3:18.92.

Yep. I was there. His most impressive win was the 200 meter (he lowered his PR tunder 21 seconds), and ND upset Beverly in the 4×400 to win. Khalfani’s 100 meter and 200 meter was tops across all divisions.

And Koa Farmer ran the third leg of the 4×100 and the 4×400.

  • Juancho

Eric is to khalfanni as juancho is to kline.

    Eric you are my brother.

  • Eric

All I know is KM is a smart kid, comes from a solid family, is a potentially game-breaking runner, and (from the Master of the Obvious file) super-duper fast. Just happy other schools were not paying attention earlier on.

And that Juancho and all Cal fans are my brothers and sisters.

  • Juancho

We are brothers and sisters. So kline + khalfanni = ?

  • rotfogel

Juancho is to Kline what Rotfogel is to Takarist McKinley….
    10.71 seconds at 6-3 240lbs in the 100 M!!!!!!!!

Love Khalfanni and all of his 5-7 175lbs too.

  • Eric

Kline + Khalfani = open wide receivers and 1,000 yard seasons.

    McKinley is a freak. FREAK.

  • Juancho

Already real excited for football season.

Cant wait for kline to be named the starter.

  • daredevilfan

Eric and Juancho and Rotfogel are to Khalfani and Kline and Mckinley what DaredevilFan is to Matt Anderson. (Damn, why’d I have to give myself a kicker) :(

  • Juancho

Minstrel good choice. I see matt andersons hair and i reminesce on when i was that age.

  • Mr. B

    @Juancho

    His hair has a name…Poolhead.

I grew up on the Danville side of Walnut Creek. Spent at least 4 hours/day in the pool, and that’s not being on a competitive swim team! No point in combing the hair, just let it sit and dry – you’ll be getting back in soon enough. Poolhead.

I wish Poolhead was acceptable for court.
Too bad Judges and clients frown upon it.

  • Juancho

Mr. B, as you most likely know – I don’t know how to swim so I thank you for the info.

Let’s hope Poolhead Anderson turns out to be a stud. I’ve always said hair is 90% of sports, so he’s off to a great start.

  • Mr. B

    Juancho,

I’m sure some of the kids you coach would gladly teach you how to swim. It’s very dangerous to not have that skill.

Is there an all-hair team for CAL?
