Football: Bears get commit from 3-star safety

Cal got its seventh commitment for the Class of 2014 when safety Quentin Tartabull of Bishop Alemany High in Mission Hills chose the Golden Bears, according to multiple recruiting websites.
Rated as a three-star prospect by both Scout.com and Rivals.com, Tartabull is the son of former Major League All-Star outfielder Danny Tarabull. His father played part of the 1995 season with the Oakland A’s and his grandfather, Jose Tartabull, played the final two seasons of his career — 1969 & ’70 — with Oakland.

Tartabull plays for Alemany, which is in the same league as Koa Farmer’s Notre Dame. Should be fun on the field in the Fall.

You know what the most delicious component of these early commits is – that they build a little social group that helps entice other guys to commit when they all visit together and have a blast. That was instrumental with our almost top 10 class last year. Shaq and Zach were the ringleaders for a full year enticing the other guys to jump aboard. So let’s hope these youngsters build a good brand at the different all star games, and Cal events / recruiting weekends.
