By Jeff Faraudo

Cal athletics today announced a new policy for game days at Memorial Stadium — no backpacks. The reason for the change, the news release said, is security.

Here’s the news release with details of the policy.

i just hope the drones fly high enough above cms such that the noise is not a factor.

  • Juancho

The plus is when were all crammed together bc they added an extra seat per row, at least the people around you wont have a bag on.

  • rotfogel

    Rollonubears:
I never thought about it but drones, dressed up like big bears and hovering over the opponents sideline would be awesome! It isn’t illegal yet, so let’s make it illegal!

  • Nor-Cal Scott

This sucks for the late afternoon & evening kickoffs. So my group of three has to each hold our windbreaker/hoodie, beanies/caps, & gloves instead of one backpack holding all of them.

Why then has CMS been searching all of the backpacks for years? Yes, I know the NFL is doing this too, but where is the common sense?

Where can I buy a giant ziplock?

  • rollonubears

It says you can bring a diaper bag. It doesn’t say you have to have a kid to bring the diaper bag. They’re basically the same thing, which is why this is extra ridiculous. I don’t think it’s to sell more concessions, as some have postulated. I honestly think we’re jumping on the ridiculous “be afraid” bandwagon. Unless more than 50% of people are not only opposed, but willing to do something about these ridiculous rules, it’s just going to get crazier. Land of the free?

Even is the post 9/11 hysteria, one could smuggle in alcohol by placing it in the bottom of a diaper bag. Put one that looks used on the top for good measure. No cop or guard will put a hand inside. Also whiskey in a sippy cup looks like apple juice.

    This sucks big time!

  • Juancho

Jeff, enough is enough. Let Dykes know we learned our lesson, and we are ready for him to name Kline the starter.

Enough of this tom foolery and dag nabetry. WNK.

    WE NEED KLINE

  • Juancho

Wehofx, minister of social media: can you kindly start a social media campaign demanding Kline be named the starter.

It’s the Klineway, or the higway.

  • Juancho

    Jeff you tell Dykes yet?

  • covinared

Juancho: arm strength isn’t enough. Brock Mansion could zip it like Kline. Touch and accuracy are also important. Apparently Goff can make all the throws and has the touch and accuracy Kline lacks. Read the scout.com scouting report. Kline apparently needs to refine his game.

  • Juancho

    Covina i accept your apology.

  • Larry

This is stupid. In a few more years, They will have us all wearing fig leaves “for our safety”

  • Steve W

    Yaaaaay

  • rollonubears

    This is EDG

I still get Rollonubears when I click ‘leave a comment’

Rollonubears – listen carefully – if You say something I don’t agree with you will be taunted forever – with strong prejudice
