Basketball: Theo Robertson named director of ops

Theo Robertson, MVP of Cal’s 2009-10 Pac-10 championship team, has been named director of basketball operations for the program.

Robertson, 26, served as graduate manager of the team last year. He was an administrative fellow for the Pac-12 in 2012. A graduate of De La Salle High, Robertson scored 1,315 career points at Cal and was a two-time team captain.

Mitch Elkins was named assistant director of basketball operations.

Glad to see Theo’s continued involvement with the team.

Good for Theo! I think he will really get this program rolling. This season could be sweet, Bird looks like he will be competing for POY. Get well JC! Go Bears!

Can Theo be groomed to take over the HC job after Monty? Don’t know about his coaching ability, but I love his spirit and work ethic.

As much as I like the idea of Theo heading up the team, I’d prefer to see him get practical head coaching experience prior to being handed the reins of a D-I program. It will be interesting to see how Jason Kidd does this year with Brooklyn. I wish him the best, but imagine it’s going to be a trial by fire.
