Five-star running back prospect Joe Mixon of Freedom-Oakley had no place to run Friday night.
Mixon, scheduled to make an official recruiting visit to Cal next weekend when Ohio State visits Memorial Stadium, was held to 66 rushing yards on 17 carries in Freedom’s 32-6 loss to Foothill-Pleasanton.
“He ran the ball well,” Freedom coach Kevin Hartwig said. “We didn’t do a good job of blocking.”
Foothill put eight defenders in the box and dared Freedom to throw the ball.
Mixon, down to five college finalists, had 198 yards the week before in a loss to Amador Valley-Pleasanton.
