Soccer: Capital of college soccer world? Berkeley

Cal enjoys a unique distinction right as the only school in the country with both an undefeated men’s and women’s soccer team.

The top-ranked Golden Bear men are 6-0-1 and the women are 7-0-3, earning them the Nos. 11 & 15 spots in two national polls.

“It’s certainly a tribute to both programs,” said Cal men’s coach Kevin Grimes. “Cal obviously attracts some of the best student-athletes in the country and globally.”

The women’s team returns to Berkeley for a five-game homestand beginning Friday at 2 p.m. vs. Arizona State at Goldman Field. The match will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.

The Cal women play again Sunday againast Arizona at 1 p.m.

Grimes and his men’s squad host Oregon State in the Pac-12 opener on Thursday at 4 p.m. on Goldman Field.
