Football: Goff says Oregon State counterpart Mannion having almost Heisman season

The two Pac-12 quarterbacks from the Oregon schools have a combined 42 touchdown passes and only three interceptions at the midway point of the season. But it’s the Ducks’ Marcus Mariota who gets most of the national attention.

Cal quarterback Jared Goff says Oregon State’s Sean Mannion deserves to share the spotlight.

“He’s putting together almost a Heisman year,” the Cal freshman said.

A couple notes from coach Sonny Dykes’ Wednesday¬†post-practice briefing with reporters:

— LB Jalen Jefferson and CB Joel Willis, who both sat out the UCLA game with head injuries, are cleared and will play vs. Oregon State.

— Running back Brendan Bigelow, moved to slot receiver, could get some carries from the backfield. He will play some at both positions, Dykes said.

We are an “All you can eat buffet” for opponents potential Heisman Candidates. We build stars out of scrubs (for other teams).

In my opinion, the two best QBs in America both play in the northern state. In terms of the NFL, I actually slightly prefer Mannion to Mariotta, but they’re both freaking awesome QBs.

Steve, don’t be a douche. Mariota is a stud, not a scrub, and Mannion has put together a great year so far before he has even played us. I know you thought you were being clever, but you have a loser mentality.
