Basketball: Kahlil Johnson leaves team

Sophomore Kahlil Johnson has decided to leave the Cal basketball team, coach Mike Montgomery announced today.

Johnson played a total of 17 minutes spread over six games last season as a freshman, totaling five points.

Montgomery said Johnson remains enrolled in classes at Cal.

“We know this was a difficult decision for him,” Montgomery said. “Kahlil is an outstanding young man. We will support him along the way in any way that we can.”

With five freshmen expected to play roles this season, Johnson’s playing time figured to be minimal.

    Bad because:

    1. Less frontcourt depth.
    2. Doesn’t hep our graduation rate

Best of luck to you though Khalil!

It is nuts how many of Monty’s recruits have left, and hurt the graduation numbers. Wow.

  • Eric

Does it hurt the grad rate if he stays and school and graduates, even though he left the team?
