Football: No word yet on Big Game kickoff

If you were hoping/expecting to get a kickoff time today for the Nov. 23 Big Game, you’ll have to be patient.

The Pac-12 announced that FOX has exercised its right to conduct a six-day selection for conference football games that day.

The 116th Big Game was one of four games held back for a six-day selection. The other three contests are Oregon at Arizona, Arizona State at UCLA and USC at Colorado.

In a nutshell, the game at Stanford could held in the early afternoon, late afternoon or at night. In other words, we know nothing.

The possibilities for start times and television coverage of the four contests were announced Monday and are listed below in order of selection.

· FOX – 5 p.m. MT/4 p.m. PT

· ESPN (Network TBD) – 1:30 p.m. MT/12:30 p.m. PT

· Pac-12 Networks – 7:30 p.m. MT/PT (local)

· FOX Sports 1 – 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT

    My money’s on 7:30 pm.

  • wehofx

    No doubt.

From the ya gotta be fu…I mean, “more good news department” per twitter: Hardy Nickerson is out for the rest of the year.

  • SteveNTexas

We should schedule the game for 2:30 and tell Stanford its 7:30.

  • Easy Ed

Steve we’d still be losing 21-0 at the end of the first quarter!

  • Woj

Note to Larry Scott – Can this game be aired at 1130pm PST? That way, all the East Coast and midwest folks have gone to bed.

This game is gonna get really ugly. Stanford might as well leave the Axe in the trophy case on campus. No need to bring it to a game they have a 99.998% chance of winning.

  • Woj

Final Score: Stanford 3 Cal 0.15 (in Buhs).
Translation: Stanford 63 Cal 3 (in points).

  • SteveNTexas

WOJ I asked you an honest question after your last post on another thread. IF you didn’t to to Cal why are you so concerned?
    What is your interest?

Did you apply and were not accepted?

Are you unemployed and post on every school’s board?

I went to a few different colleges for undergrad and grad and have a hard time keeping up with them. Indiana seems to have a much larger fan base so there are more sites and more info, but it can be time-consuming.

    Just curious.

  • H8sRed

OUTRAGEOUS! Larry Scott allowed this steaming turd of a provision to be inserted in the contract? The fans who actually buy tickets need to be shown a lot more respect than this.

  • Aubear

Pretty sure Cal and Snodfart agreed to no more night games EVER!

  • CalBearister

Larry Scott is about one thing and one thing only. Cash.

And look at all the good things the new revenue is doing – coaches get huge pay raises and student-athletes don’t see dollar one.

It’s almost enough to make me want to boycott collegiate sports.

  • MoreNCsarecoming

CSU East Bay should just forfeit. Nobody takes any delight in watching a game which is over after the 1st quarter.

Then again maybe this will be what it takes to rid yourselves of an incompetent AD. While you are at it get rid of your incompetent academic advisors too.

Refer to earlier posts on my affiliation with Cal. Been a fan for a long time, never went to the university, period. That’s all I’ll say.

Some Cal fans are calling the 2014 game against Sacramento State an “easy win.”
Holy crppola – Cal hasn’t beaten any FBS team in its last 14 tries AND barely beat Portland State by 7 at home and there are some bagging the Sac. St. game as an easy win. Sac. St sure doesn’t think so. Stanford knows VERY well – that if you are an awful team, you can lose to decent FCS teams like SU did to UC Davis (in 2005 in Palo Alto).

With Dykes/Buh at the helm, Cal is easily among the 3 worst teams in college football and the WORST BCS conference team for sure.

IMO – Fire both of them – see Wilner’s artcile, there has been ZERO progress on Saturdays and much of that has to do with putrid coaching. No need to suffer through a second or gulp third year of doormat-ness regardless of the $$. Start negotiatign a buyout now and bring Bob Ladoceur of De La Salle on board pronto.

  • Jabes

The six day thing has been around for years. This may be the first time it was used for Big Game.

  • Ray Finkle

Woj, stop with the Bob Ladoceur crap. Because hiring a lifetime high school coach who is old would be a great idea, not. BTW your Stormy Dykes comments are old/never were funny. Get a grip man.
