Basketball: Bird sustains ankle injury

By Jeff Faraudo
Sunday, December 22nd, 2013 at 4:55 pm in Basketball, Gameday.

Jabari Bird sustained what appeared to be a fairly sharp turn of his right ankle with 5:02 left in the first half at Creighton.

Bird writhed on the floor after coming down awkwardly on his ankle, then was helped off the floor.

A couple minutes later, the freshman guard had his ankle wrapped in ice on the Cal bench.

Creighton finished the first half with a 10-1 run and leads 30-19 at the break.

Cal shot 33 percent in the first half, turned the ball over seven times and was outrebounded 22-15.

The injury gremlin has crossed from the turf to the hardwood.

    Brutal.

Stop taking 3′s. Drive. Feed the post.

D looked good until last coupla minutes.

    Go Bears!

Tonight, I call upon any angel out there yet to gain his/her wings to come and show me what my life would have been like had I never been a Bear in order to convince me this has been a wonderful life compared to the alternatives.

    Cause I’m standing on a bridge holding a life insurance policy . . .

Montgomery never seems to get these teams prepared to play on the road before the Pac 10 conference begins. They always get crushed, never even close. So frustrating!

    Don’t do it, Mr Cow!

I’m pretty depressed, too. But I have faith in Monty.
