Basketball: Bucks sign Gutierrez to 2nd 10-day deal

Former Cal star Jorge Gutierrez signed a second 10-day contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Gutierrez signed with the Bucks on Jan. 28 after point guard Kendall Marshall suffered a season-ending knee injury. Gutierrez, the former Pac-12 Player of the Year, averaged 4.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 14.8 minutes over four games.

He tied a career high with 13 points in the Bucks’ 117-113 loss in Houston last Friday and also started for Milwaukee in a victory in Toronto on Feb. 2.

“He did everything we’ve asked, on and off the court,” fellow Cal alum and coach Jason Kidd said.

Yay! So happy to hear this. I love this guy. And Kidd.

The two best defensive guards in Cal history: Kidd and Jorge. Legends, the both of them.
    I think Jorge’s #2 should be retired…anyone else?

    Go Bears!

Gut! If he keeps producing, he’s gotta get a long term contract. Soon.

Jorge was one tough kid. To win conference Player of the Year with offensive numbers that do not jump out at you and be on a team that did not win the conference is a testament to what other coaches must have thought of him as the consummate player. Could not be happier for the guy. Go Bucks & Bears!

I reported this on here a week ago. Jorge has been gettign some key reboounds on a Buck’s team that is beset by injuries. The Buck’s top player Jabari Parker is out for the season, Yet Jason Kidd has them firmly in the playoffs. Brooklyn Kidd’s former team has been pretty much injury free a and has Lopez back this year. Despite this Brooklyn is 8 games behind teh Bucks and Kidd has beaten them both times in back-to-back contests.
