Basketball: Pre-Euro scrimmage videos

Here are links to a couple 3-minute videos (courtesy of Cal video coordinator Marlon Stewart) showing action from two recent Cal scrimmages in which the Bears played with the international rules they will see on their trip to northern Europe.

The first one includes portions highlighting transfer guard Justin Cobbs and freshmen David Kravish and Christian Behrens. The second one provides moments spotlighting most of the Bears. Keep in mind these are edited highlights, so there are very few missed shots or turnovers, but they’re fun nonetheless.

Senior Harper Kamp said the Bears responded better to the international rules in the second scrimmage, adding that the players welcome the change, where the 24-second shot clock will mean a faster pace.

“The rules in general aren’t a lot different,” Kamp said. “The clock just speeds it up a little. You’ve got to be ready for that.”

Basketball: Bears’ Euro schedule

The Golden Bears leave early Friday for their 10-day trek to Northern Europe. First stop is Stockholm, Sweden.

Here’s the team’s basketball itinerary:

– Sunday: vs. Solna Vikings at Stockholm, 8 a.m. PDT.

– Monday: vs. Uppsala at Stockholm, 10 a.m. PDT.

– Wednesday: vs. Norwegian National Team at Oslo, Norway, 10 a.m. PDT.

– Saturday, Aug. 20: vs. Danish National Team at Copenhagen, Denmark, 8 a.m. PDT.

– Sunday, Aug. 21: vs. Danish National Team at Copenhagen, 4 a.m. PDT.

We will try to provide detailed results of each game as quickly as possible, but we’re relying on what is provided by Cal’s sports information department off emails they hope to receive from the basketball staff.

The good news is Monday’s game at Stockholm is scheduled to be streamed live on  free webcast, beginning at 10 a.m. PDT.

I’m told the best way to find the link to the game will be to do a google search for uppsalabasket.se and click on Translate this page. You will get a page translated into broken English (the nature of these translator programs).

There was no link for the webcast on the page as of Thursday night, but by Monday morning (if not sooner) it should be there.
