Did you order your mail-order Russian River Belgian-style ales yesterday? If you didn’t, you’re out of luck. Got an e-mail this morning from Natalie Cilurzo (Russian River Co-founder).
The bottled-beer store is closed, she said. A lot of people may be trying, I couldn’t get on the site at all this morning.
If you live in the Bay Area, Russian River’s beers are sold at a few places, including Ledger’s Liquors in Berkeley, the new Whole Foods in Oakland, Monument Wine & Spirits in Concord and City Beer Store in San Francisco.
I also have compiled a list of retailers in the Bay Area with decent beer stocks, some stock Russian River. Shoot me an e-mail: whatsontap@sbcglobal.net and ask for the list.

Hey Bill - you can also usually get them at Coit Liquor in North Beach (SF) - which is next to Rougue - good beer selection for what is mostly a wine shop!

Thanks for the info, Joe. Also, here’s another good source in San Francisco. This cam e in an email from Erik:
Hi William, Plump Jack in Noe Valley stocks what Russian River beers it is able to carry.
Last I checked they had some of the original release of the new
Russian River bottles, but were reserving them for folks who knew
enough to ask or were in the beer club.
By the way, I do highly recommend their beer club. It’s a lot of fun.
Not all the beers are fantastic, but it is great to get you out of
whatever beer rut you are in. Plus, then they give you 10% off any
beer you purchase in the store. Erik

Thanks Erik. Forgot about Plump Jack. For years that was the only store in SF with a dependable supply of Belgian beer. I’ll check out their beer club. Officially, it’s Plumpjack’s Wines, This comes from our Retail Beer Store List:
Plumpjack’s Wines,(formerly Caruso’s), 4011 24th St., San Francisco, (415) 282-3841; Tiny, but great Belgian beer stock, one of top three stores for Belgian beers in the Bay Area. (The list includes Healthy Spirits and Coit Liquors, San Francisco’ Ledger’s Berkeley’ Monument, Concord and Beltramo’s, Menlo Park.

Hey William - thanks for keeping up such a great blog. I heard about you through The Brewing Network and Justin Crossley’s CBS AM show.
Just wanted to chime in on where I’ve seen Russian River’s beers within the past week:
Ledger’s Liqours - Damnation, Perdition, Temptation, and Beatification
City Beer Store - Damnation and Temptation. They often feature Russian River on draft but this wasn’t the case on my most recent visit (7/6/08).
Beer, Beer, and More Beer (Concord) - Supplication, Perdition

Thanks for the info Brian.City Beer’s a great place, but they only have four taps and rotate them constantly. Did you check City Beer for Russian River bottles. They often have the bottles Another place with a good Russian River selection is Monument Wine & Spirits in Concord.
