Unfortunately I already have plans this weekend.

Very disappointed last year. Advertisement stated entry fee only and all tasting of bbq cook-off was part of fair. That was not the case. Thousands of people who drove over 60+ miles were forced to pay for each and every sample and that was false advertisement and very dissappointing. I swore i would never go back.

Hi Duncan…the only beer they had last year was, I believe, Miller;s. However,IU’m scheduled to talk to the PR folks arond 11 a.m. today. Will ask h er point blank, If what you say is true, it sucks. But I don’t think that;’s right this year.

Talkd to the BBQ folks. The beer last year was a different deal. This year, the $25 advane/$30 at the gate covers all the beer you can drink, plus admission to the fair grounds. BBQ is extra. The beer garden is on one site, the rib cook off stands are on the other . You pay for your barbeque. Expect to pay from $8 to $12 for ribs, less for sides.

I went last year, ignored the beer, it was all light lager. But the ribs were amazing. There are ribs and brisket and chicken prepared by chefs from all over the U.S. My only advice: If they say the hot sauce is hot, believe it. At one place it was like swallowing an inferno. But oh my, the ribs were so good and so was the brisket and so…well, you get the drift.

We checked this out on Sunday, waited 30 minutes in line for the Brewfest to view a sign at the tix booth: $30 admission includes six 4 oz. tastings and for an additional $15 you can buy an additional six 4 oz. tastings. To us, this was an extreme rip-off of paying $45 of the equivalent of four 12 oz beers, so we decided not to buy tix and left. We’re curious, was the case inside the brewfest, or was it as Mr. Brand wrote “$30 at the gate covers all the beer you can drink”?

God I hate deals like that. I only talked to the producer, not to the people who did the beer portion of the event. That’s a total rip. Sorry about that. You were wise to skip it. I’m gonna call the radio station that sponsored it and see what the deal was. Will post what I found out.

I was very dissapointed. I thought the cookoff was going to have alot of contestants.I counted 6 or 7 of them. I got a website from one to order some sauce. Besides the few contestants(they all had signs saying they were champions and we paid for everything), they had the usual vendors selling junk(at flea markets), ie; handbags, sunglasses, cheap jewelry, etc. The only tables(not many) to sit at were already taken under little shade(it was almost 100deg.) so my friend and I had to opt for the grass. The band was playing blues, but a little loud. After eating a pulled pork sadwich, we got bored and left. We arrived there about 130pm and left soon after we ate. To me that was a poor excuse for a cookoff. I will never go back.

Hope the promoters get the message.
