If you read a newspaper or talk to people who are into food, you probably know that Slow Food Nation is bringing the Slow Food movement to the Bay Area on Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 29 - Sept. 1.

Slow food is a movement that began in Italy and focuses on well-prepared, great food, made slowly and with great care. The opposite of the Big Mac Attack. This is the first really giant Slow Food production in the United States and it’s featuring every possible kind of slow food, cheese to beer to …well just about anything wholesome…Local founder is Alice Waters, of Chez Panisse fame.

There’s going to be a beer pavilion featuring beers of many styles from craft brewers across the country. The project’s being overseen by Dave McLean of Magnolia Gastropub in San Francisco. More on that in a few days.

But, on Aug 28, on the even of this incredible event at Fort Mason, Beer Chef Bruce Paton’s having a slow food dinner, pairing an exquisite menu with beers from Stone Brewing. It’s $85. You can sign up here. And here’s the menu.

any update on the slowfood beer event?

  2. William Brand Says:

Hi Danny,… yes there is. Wrote my Mercury News column about it, which runs Wednesday. But basically, there’ll be a beer tent, one of 15 pavilions. Dave McLean of Magnolia’s running the show. There will three stations, cask (handpump), keg and bottles. Dave says that about 50 craft brewers across the U.S. have shipped beer for the pavilion, all kinds of beer.

It promises to be quite a show and the beer pavilion is just one of 15. More info at http://slowfoodnation.org/press/press-releases/slow-food-nation-announces-23-taste-workshops-during-labor-day-weekend-event/

It’s at Fort Mason in San Francisco and runs Friday-Monday.

Danny, there are tickets left to the Sunday night session, only at Whole Foods, Berkeley, Selma, Potrero Hill and California Street stores in San Francsico.
