Write a haiku about your fave beer, win a bottle of Westvleteren Tripel

This isn’t GABF related, but it’s too good to ignore…Here it is straight from Trappist (460 8th St., Oakland, CA) co-founder  Chuck Stilphen…

  • Being generous and thoughtful as we are Aaron (Porter) and I brought back two cases of Westvleteren 12 from our recent trip to Belgium and we are giving one entire beer away, yes the entire 33cl.
  • You don’t need to beg for one, all you need to do is submit a Haiku about your favorite beer (what ever your favorite beer is not westy) please stick to the traditional 5-7-5  (syllable) pattern. Entries will be judged and possibly ridiculed by the Trappist Staff, Once a winner is chosen you may come in and enjoy your westy12 in a proper Westvleteren glass at the proper temperature of 55 degrees. We may ask for a sip. Good Luck.

It’s not Trappist product, but Moosehead Lager was a favorite of my past, and I decided to write a Haiku about it:

    Meditations on Moosehead

    Fond memories of youth
    Drinking with friends, bowling
    Cannot stand it now

So can I get a Westy for that?

  2. Of Necessity Says:

    To An Arrogant Bastard:

    Like leaves in autumn,
The banks and brokers fall down.
    Stone’s Gargoyle remains.

(( If you pronounce “Gargoyle” as three syllables instead of two, swap that last line out with “Stone’s Gargoyle stands”. However you pronounce it, know that a good beer is an island of stability in an ocean of chaos. ))

OK you guys, this is profound. Forwarding both to the Trappist.

  4. Mood Says:

    Smoke from flame kings live
    strength from cask conditioned blessed
    Penndragon beer quest

Penndragon from Trials pub from San Jose,CA

This beer was a king of kings I think they changed the name to monks brown ale though. Its almost as good: bit different from the Penndragon: cask conditioned beers rock!!!.
