I know this is completely off topic, but I am thinking of taking a home brewing course. However I have only been able to find one. Was hoping for a class in Marin, Sonoma or S.F. Any suggestions for a good class?

Goose Island Bourbon County Stout is one of those beers that has elicited a truly terrifying array of appreciative noises around any table that I’ve been on when it was sampled - it really a very special beer.

Had the great privelege to be invited to a Goose Island dinner at the White Horse in Parson’s Green, London (www.whitehorsesw6.com) earlier this year and it was undoubtedly the showcase beer of the evening.

Big, soft vanillins, caramels and chocolate dominate but it’s got a slightly spicy edge that stops it becoming too sickly sweet - it’s a real winner in the wood-aged world for sure.

  8. The Duke Of Dunkel Says:

I broke down and shelled out for a 4-pack of Goose Island BCS yesterday, and cracked one open in the evening. Wow. I can’t wait to see how this evolves as it ages. Tremendous.

  9. Kevin Amdahl Says:

Where can I get my hands on this stuff? I live in Fremont, and my local BevMo doesn’t carry it.

  10. Scott B. Says:

I’ve seen it at Whole Foods.

  11. William Brand Says:

Kevin…Whole Foods is a good bet. There are a couple of good beer stores around your area, but somehow I didn’t get them posted in retail beer list. I just e-mailed Stone’s Northern California rep and see what he says. But certainly Whole Foods. In Berkeley, there’s Ledger’s Liquors. In Concord, Monument Wine & Spirits. Better look fast though and if anyone else knows of a good beer store in Fremont, post the info.

  12. William Brand Says:

Hi again Kevin. Found the info, came from a regular blog poster here, Russ, who says Ernie’s Liquors, 5200 Mowry Ave # R, Fremont, CA 94538 (510) 797-7901 has a decent beer stock including Pliny the Elder.

So I just called there, got the owner. Sadly, he said he doesnt have FW 12 “yet.” He said he’s trying to get it and hopes to have some next week. But he does indeed have Pliny.
