Wow. Weed is legal again. That is Legal Weed bottle caps, on beer from Mt. Shasta Brewing in Weed, CA. Here’s the news from Gail at BeerbyBart.com.
You can “Try Legal Weed” again, the Weed brewers just learned. Mount Shasta Brewing Company is located in Weed, California, just off of I-5. Last winter the Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) reviewed a new label for their latest beer, Lemurian Golden Lager, and rejected the bottle caps they proposed — the popular caps they were already using on their other Weed Beers. The caps say “Try Legal Weed.”
The July 31 ruling just arrived, addressed to owner Vaune Dilmann, from Grace Joy, Assistant Director of the Advertising, Labeling and Formulation Division. “After reviewing the information that you submitted, the Alcohol Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) has decided to grant your appeal. Based on the context of the entire label, we agree that the phrase in question refers to the brand name of the product and does not mislead consumers.”
Head brewer Josh Riggs, fired up the bottling line with glee Tuesday, replacing the temporary blank caps they have been using with the iconic “Try Legal Weed” caps again.
Meanwhile, if anyone is looking for plain gold bottle caps, you might contact the brewery They have plenty to spare.
