Yikes, that's right! I'm on it. How many people is a good number? I'm thinking me, you, Doug, Ward, and my pal who teaches at CIA (she lives in SF). Lemme know if you think of anyone else and I'll send out an email. Oh and I'd love to get together soon. I'm craving tea leaf salad. Lemme know when!

I have never written about junk food and wine. The 2007 story, if you read it, was about COMFORT foods and wine, things like meatloaf and homemade macaroni and cheese, which pair well with highly acidic wines such as Sauvingon Blanc and Pinot Noir because these wines can stand up to the fat of these dishes. The only reference I made to junk food in the entire story was Mike Pierce's affinity for Doritos. And citing that he had Wine Wednesday seminars. Please, don't attack me without being informed.

I just think it's hilarious that it was okay for you to write about wine pairings and "processed junk" in 2007, but now that the Chronicle has done it, it's suddenly not okay?

It's not about you. People should enjoy their wine however they choose.

I'm curious as to why you specifically write about carageenan and MSG. Carageenan is a natural product derived from kelp while MSG was traditionally made from the fermentation of seaweed and now wheat. I don't see how these are any different from wine in that man takes natural products (grapes, kelp, seaweed/wheat) and ferments them with the addition of a fermenter (yeast, bacteria).
