This list appears to be BA member driven by the availability of the various products and not by any world rating of beers.

The list is very incomplete,as Troubador Blond won the World Beer Cup in Chicago against 43 other blonds, Troubadour Magma won the gold at Zythos in Belgium and Tiple Carmelit won 4th, etc. Many beers were not included because they were not widely rated by the members, possibly due to the lack of availability for tasting.

Therefore it should be renamed something to reflect what it actually is, a measurment of the various tastings by the BA members, not the world.

Well, must say i very much disagree with most of it.
Garzillion of belgian, german, chechz, british, dutch and even italian breweries not even mentioned.

Thanks for the clarification. Westvleteren 12 is just shy of 1,000 reviews with 923 reviews. Thanks for blogging, and I’ll look forward to your analysis of the more useful list.

Nothing “fishy,” this list was an experimental list that was up on Beer Advocate for just one day, yesterday. To be on that list required that there was a minimum of 1,000 reviews. The list you’re looking at now requires only 105 reviews, so it has changed dramatically. I’ll have a new analysis of the newer list shortly.

There is something wrong with this list. It does not correspond with the list on the BA website, which lists Westvleteren 12 as number 1. Since that beer isn’t even on this list, there is something fishy here if this is supposed to be the best 100 beers on planet earth.
