Nope, I’m not talking about the Brad Mehldau trio, although that’s a very good candidate for the honor. The best trio in jazz might well be the Esbjörn Svensson trio (E.S.T.). The Swedish troupe is just about ready to release a new album, “Tuesday Wonderland,” which is due out April 10.
