album in four years, Alison Moyet will be back in October with a
complete string of North American solo dates. This marks Moyet’s first
trip back to this side of the pond as a solo artist in 14 years kicking
off at Toronto’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre on October 5th and wrapping up

Vince Clarke is a founding member of three of the most significant synth-pop bands in history: Depeche Mode, Erasure and Yaz.

The first two have each been around now for well over 20 years. In contrast, Yaz released just two albums during its two-year run (1982-1983).

Yet, a lasting mark can be made in a relatively short period _ and that’s exactly what synthesizer king Clarke and vocalist Alison Moyet accomplished with their U.K. duo Yaz.

Bay Area fans haven’t forgotten the albums “Upstairs at Eric’s” and “You and Me Both,” or the great dance hits “Situation” and “Don’t Go,” which is why a full house turned out to the Paramount Theatre in Oakland on Monday night (July 7) to see Yaz launch the North American portion of its reunion tour. The evening marked the first time that the duo had ever performed in the Bay Area.

Fusion is in the air. Bay Area fans just got to witness one of the genre’s all-time great bands, Return To Forever, and now they have the chance to see fusion titan Stanley Jordan in concert. The guitar virtuoso, known for his highly original “tap” technique,” has been thrilling fusion enthusiasts ever since the release of his 1985 debut, “Magic Touch.” He’s currently touring in support of “State of Nature,” his first mainstream release in over a decade.
